No Spoilers

Truth or Dare is one of those movies I deemed a teeny bopper go to the mall movie theater high school horror and make out fest after sneaking out of the house at 13, so I’ve tried for the last year or two to avoid Truth or Dare. However, No Spoiler reviews need to be written so I will just look at Truth or Dare 2017 as another article for the blog site horror review section. Plus the smiling trope/meme thing I’ve been seeing all over has finally piqued my interest enough to go ahead and watch this.

OKAY STOP. This is not the movie I thought it was. What I was looking for was the cinematic version of Truth or Dare which was made in 2018. I found this movie on Netflix and thought it was the movie I was looking to watch. It is not. Apparently this is the 2017 version which was made for one of the cable channels on TV. I’m at a bit of a crossroads now cause I’m not sure what to do.

Watch them both? Write two reviews? Or maybe consolidate them both in to this one review? Not sure yet, let’s finish watching this one and see what happens.

Truth or Dare 2017 is about a group of friends looking to have some pre Halloween festivities. So a member of the gang rents a house from “ScaryRentals.com”. The quick history of the house they rented is thus: 30 years previously a group of friends died playing, you guessed it, Truth or Dare. So the genius member of the group decides their pre Halloween festivities will include staying overnight at this disturbed house and playing a round of Truth or Dare to commemorate or commiserate on what happened in this house all those years ago.

<… off to complete watching Truth or Dare 2017 TV Version …>

Okay just finished watching the made for TV, SciFi Channel specifically, 2017 version of Truth or Dare. It was an okay movie with a few good body horror sequences. As mentioned above it is kind of a teeny bopper teenage date night movie, in my opinion, and if it was made for the big screen, I’m guessing it would get a PG-13 rating.

One of the things I’m going to guess is gonna throw some people off is how this movie ended. It ends abruptly and if your not paying attention, you’re not going to be sure what happened and probably feel upset and cheated by this movie. I wasn’t paying enough attention apparently and the abrupt ending through me off too. Until I watched a review and explanation video on YouTube about this movie and the way it ended. For most people to understand what happens at the end of this movie, you’re going to have to have closed captioning turned on, unless you are very astute and attentive.

After reviewing the the various streaming services I have it turns out I won’t be able to watch the cinematic version of Truth or Dare until I spend some money and rent it or or wait for it to show up on one of my streaming services. I can wait so for now this will be a standalone article on Truth or Dare 2017. I’ll write another review when I finally get around to watching the cinematic version Truth or Dare.

Truth of Dare 2017 was directed by Nick Simon and features Cassandra Scerbo, Brytni Sarpy, Mason Dye, Harvey Guillen, Luke Baines, Ricardo Hoyos, Alexxis Lemire, Christina Masterson, and Heather Langenkamp. Written by Thommy Hutson and Ethan Lawrence. Truth of Dare 2017 is a Horror movie that’s scary and suspenseful and has been rated TV-MA for mature audiences.
